 I think it makes sense to start with Twenty Five Twenty One, since it is one of my favorites. 


Starring Kim Tae-Ri and Nam Joo-Hyuk, the series takes place in 1998, bringing a dose of melancholy to all Millennials and a slap of reality to all the hopeless romantics. Captivating from the first episode, with an incredible color palette, it will feed your teenage ego and then destroy it in a thousand pieces, or not. That's what you have to see. But in any case, keep a pack of tissues by your side.


Without destroying the magic, it is a romance about first love and first conquests, but in the end it is much more than that. It is a roller coaster of emotions that reminds us that life is not always what we expect, but that we can always be a little more and that the sky is not the limit. Perseverance and personality, I think are the key words in this drama.



In short: Due to a financial crisis, Na Hee-do sees her dream of becoming a fencer put to the test, which involves her in a series of challenges and adversities. The series follows her growth, between the past and the present, also following her relationship with Baek Yi-Jin, a young man who sees his life being equally affected by the crisis.


In terms of representation, I really liked the performance of both protagonists, and Kim Tae-ri manages to completely camouflage himself as a teenager despite her being 30 years old. Nam Joo-Hyunk did not disappoint either, since its performance led me to see more of his series, such as Weightlifting Fairy, Kim Bok-joo.

Focusing on themes such as friendship, sport and romance, I think Twenty One Twenty Five manages to capture, and very well, with very funny and caricatured moments of what it is to grow and mature. In addition, I really enjoyed the fencing theme and everything I learned about it while watching.


Watch it, and enjoy every second. You will not regret it.
